Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
İstanbul Müzik Derneği, established in the summer of 2024, consists of esteemed professionals across various fields: Mehmet Ergen (director), Erdal İnci (visual artist), Barış Büyükyıldırım (pianist), Yalın Hatipoğlu (author), Murat Erginol (violinist), Poyraz Baltacıgil (cellist), and Nilüfer Karanfil (architect). The association is the official representative of the PianoSummer festival, with the artistic direction of world renowned pianist Zoran Imširović which is held in Munich, Germany; Salento, Italy; and Belgrade, Serbia over a decade.
Our Story
İstanbul Müzik Derneği (İMD) is dedicated to enriching Istanbul’s cultural and artistic landscape through music and the performing arts. Our primary objectives include:

Enhancing Musical Presence: We strive to strengthen the role of music and performing arts in Istanbul’s cultural life, working to make music more qualified, diverse, and widely accessible through a collaborative approach involving multiple stakeholders.

Supporting Musicians: We are committed to the growth of musicians by enhancing their stage experience and fostering connections and creative collaborations among them, as well as between musicians and audiences/researchers.

Empowering Young and Disadvantaged Musicians: Our goal is to support the development of young talents and musicians from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing essential expertise and opportunities for their advancement.

Fostering Institutional Relationships: We aim to create platforms and opportunities to strengthen ties between institutions and organizations contributing to Istanbul’s vibrant music scene.

Promoting Intercultural Communication: Through advocacy and awareness, we work to highlight the unifying and healing power of music, enhancing intercultural dialogue and supporting marginalized communities.
